Yum Brands goes big into kiosks

The owner of KFC, Taco Bell and Habit Burger is bringing in the self-ordering devices as its digital system sales hit $30 billion.

Yum Brands names Joe Park chief digital and technology officer

Park will replace Clay Johnson, who will remain with the owner of KFC and Taco Bell as a senior advisor.

Parent company Yum Brands said the chain’s operating loss will be $10 million in the fourth quarter, which it blamed on anticipated impacts of legislation that will raise wage rates next year.

The owner of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Habit continues to add to its in-house technology capabilities and is building digital sales. But the company wants to keep its focus on what matters.

The owner of Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut is working with the customer data platform Treasure Data to give it a centralized view of customer data across all its brands.

The program with the investment firm Lafayette Square, called Franchise Fast Start, is designed to provide access to capital for underrepresented franchisees of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Habit Burger.

After serving as brand president of The Habit Burger Grill for nearly a year, Hennessy on June 6 will replace Russ Bendel, who announced plans to retire as CEO last year.

The fast-casual burger chain tapped the KFC veteran to oversee global marketing. Former Chief Brand Officer Iwona Alter was named chief operating officer.
