Pizza chain Papa Johns launched its new Croissant Pizza in Dubai on Tuesday, introducing a mashup of flaky croissant dough with the brand’s signature toppings.
The pizza is differentiated by a buttery, braided flaky crust that bakes up crisp and golden to hold up to sauce, cheese and other toppings.
Croissant mashups have been trending since the 2013 birth of Dominique Ansel’s famous Cronut—a doughnut-croissant hybrid. “We explored the rise of croissant mashups in food culture—from the ‘cronut’ to the ‘crookie’—and saw an opportunity to bring that same innovation to pizza,” Chris Lyn-Sue, SVP managing director of international at Papa Johns, said in a statement. “After a year in development, we’re proud to unite two beloved icons into one craveable, delicious product that brings something fresh and exciting to the QSR category.”
After initially launching in Dubai, the Croissant Pizza will head to nine global markets throughout the summer, including Korea, China, Chile and Peru. Papa Johns did not reveal when it might land in its U.S. restaurants.
The Papa Johns x Kid Super Hot Bag is inspired by the pizza's look.
To introduce the pizza in style, Papa Johns teamed up with KidSuper to design a limited-edition hot bag—the Papa Johns x Kid Super Hot Bag—inspired by the ingredients and look of the Croissant Pizza. The bag’s woven strap reflects the handcrafted, tightly braided crust of the pizza, the zipper curves in a crescent shape and the soft edges mimic the folds of the pastry.
KidSuper is known for concept-driven designs rooted in storytelling, and the hot bag will make its official debut later this month during Paris Fashion Week Men's Spring/Summer 2026 (SS26), as part of the KidSuper show. As the Croissant Pizza rolls out around the world this summer, the Papa Johns x KidSuper Hot Bag will hit runways, beaches and exhibitions in select markets. Some customers in these destinations who order the new pizza mashup may receive their delivery in the exclusive hot bag—and if it arrives at their door, it’s theirs to keep.
Papa Johns was on an innovation tear a few years back, rolling out handheld Papadias, Crispy Parm Pizza, Epic Stuffed Crust Pizza and NY Style Pizza in quick succession. These items spurred sales, but in the last quarter of this year, same store sales fell 3%. CEO Todd Penegor is now steering the chain back to focusing on its pizza lineup.
Papa Johns has more than 6,000 restaurants in approximately 50 countries and territories around the world.
