Texas Roadhouse CFO Chris Monroe has left the company after two years in the role, the chain announced Tuesday.

No reason was given for the abrupt departure, although CEO Jerry Morgan commented: “We appreciate Chris’ nearly two years of service and wish he and his family the best as they transition back to Texas.”

In a financial filing, the company said his departure is not related to a disagreement with the company, its performance or its financial situation.

Louisville-based Texas Roadhouse hired Monroe in June 2023. He previously spent more than 30 years working for Southwest Air Lines out of the Dallas area, most recently as SVP of finance and treasurer.

The chain named Keith Humpich, VP of finance, as interim CFO and has tapped an executive search firm to find a permanent successor.

Humpich was previously interim CFO from January to June 2023. He has been with Texas Roadhouse since 2005.

The 728-unit Texas Roadhouse has been one of the most successful chains in the industry for years, and last year became the nation’s largest casual-dining chain. Systemwide sales rose 14.7%, to nearly $5.5 billion. It also operates the Bubba’s 33 and Jaggers brands.
